Securing sustainable NHS services: the Trust Special Administrator's report on South London Healthcare NHS Trust and the NHS in south east London

A number of solutions have been tried over many years to overcome the challenges faced by the South London Healthcare NHS Trust and its predecessor organisations in south east London.  However, none have delivered the scale of change required to secure clinically and financially sustainable services for the long-term for local people.

On 16 July 2012 a Trust Special Administrator (TSA) was appointed to the Trust by the Secretary of State for Health under the Regime for Unsustainable NHS Providers (UPR). The Trust Special Administrator’s final report outlining recommendations to secure sustainable services for those served by South London Healthcare NHS Trust and the wider NHS in south east London was published by the Secretary of State for Health on Tuesday, 8 January 2013 and he announced his decisions on Thursday 31 January 2013.
